Los Angeles Family Photographer | Stay Connecte

A friend of mine on Pinterest pinned this article today and I loved it so much as a Mom, I just had to reblog it here. 10 Habits to Strengthen Your Relationship with Your Child is a pretty amazing read. As a Mom, it really made me realize a few crucial things that I’m taking for granted. I’d like to pay more attention.

And here’s what I’d like you to do, amazing clients of mine: pay attention to number eight. I’m not posting the text here because I actually want you to read the article in it’s entirety, but read it. Then read it again.

The next time I photograph your family, show me number eight. It’ll be magical.

Check out Precious Things Photography over at the PicTots blog, a great resource for parents searching for their perfect family photographer! You know what I love about this site? It gives parents basically a side-by-side comparison of photographers in their area, allowing you to check out a mini portfolio before heading over to each individual site. I love it. I absolutely love that it showcases style. Thanks, PicTots!:)

Oh E Family. You braved the ruthless heat and sun for our super quick family shot back in Chicago. I was so proud of each and every one of you for not falling into the stream that was running underneath this bridge when you were searching for frogs. I know Mom and Dad were freaking out, but if it weren’t so hot out I would’ve actually photographed you nearly falling in off of the retaining wall. Next time I’m in town, I promise to make those boys sit in the sun instead of the girls. They sure had it easy…

Test Shooting | Los Angeles Child Photographer

Los Angeles Child Photographer | Test Shoot

I love scouting out locations before a session and who better to test shoot than my toddler son? While he doesn’t usually stand anywhere on command and rarely looks at the camera when you actually want him to, I had so much fun snapping away.

A lot of people ask me where I get location ideas and the answer is simple: I always keep my eyes open. I’m a huge fan of texture and shape, which you’ll usually see in the images that I take. Everywhere I go, I have my eyes peeled for something that would look cool through my lens. I’m always taking mental notes and mental snapshots to file away for future use. I loved this wall immediately and knew that I’d use it in my future session…and the chalk writing on it? I didn’t do it. It was there. So appropriate for the kid, huh?

Instagram. If you own an iPhone to take photos and you don’t use it, you’re silly. It is, without a question, one of my favorite apps available. I am a photographer, after all, and I can’t help but take pictures all of the time. I tend to always see the world through my lens even when it’s not physically in front of me. I photograph my surroundings, I photograph my son, I photograph things that make me laugh and sometimes I’m even in the frame. Follow me.

Over the past few months many things have been brewing here behind the scenes at Precious Things Photography. Between traveling, updating the main website, shooting, accepting new and exciting projects both here in LA as well as in the Midwest, and adjusting to life on the West Coast…well, it’s been an interesting ride. Eventually I will update this blog with images that I’ve been shooting that I’m way behind on and make exciting and fun announcements. Just keep checking back. Or obsessively follow me online.
