Welcome, welcome, one and all...To the fabulous Precious Things Photography blog! Consider this a virtual handshake - I'm Gen, the owner and principal photographer over here at Precious Things Photography. It is very nice to meet you. That yellow bird up there? That's Pierre - he's our mascot...

Precious Things Photography is an award winning, eco-friendly, urban boutique photography studio based out of Chicago. We're not your run-of-the-mill children's photographers. We're funky and we know it. We love color, exploring new places and making your children laugh. Our work is cherished by parents and families across the Chicagoland area. We specialize in maternity, newborn, baby, kids, teen and family photography. We don't do weddings. We don't do pets. We stay with what we know, we love what we do and we're lucky.

Bookmark this blog to check in on what we've been doing. Super large sneak peeks from sessions, studio news and more! Oh...And don't be afraid to leave some comments. We love 'em!

Baby P, Miss K…Two members of the M Family!

Oh M Family…I had so much fun with you guys! Even though our session was interrupted by a terrible (and scary) leaf blower at one point and a few bicycle riders at another point, it was definitely a good one. Miss K, I had so much fun with you listening to you sing and tell me stories. Thanks to you I will forever use the phrase “criss cross apple sauce” to refer to a particular sitting style and I have started to watch Dora the Explorer. You were great…and thanks for offering me a piece of cake at your upcoming birthday party! Baby P, you were such a great subject. Thank you for sitting so wonderfully in front of the camera, smiling and keeping up your head even with that big gigantic flower on it! I only wish all babies your age were as laid back as you. And to Mommy and Daddy, thank you so much for showing up to the session so prepared and ready to have fun. I hope you had a great drive and a great weekend with family!

What a glowing Mommy-to-Be! (And Daddy too!)

I love maternity sessions. Especially when they’re this close to the little one’s due date. This Mommy and Daddy-to-Be are due on Saturday…as in THIS Saturday! Can you even believe it? What a gorgeous couple and what a glowing Mommy. This is going to be one absolutely stunning little baby, huh?

Mr. L and Baby I. What a duo.

I was so, so, so excited to catch up with the D family and meet their newest addition – Baby I! On top of that, I was so excited to see one of my favorite little guys…Mr. L – and man has he grown! The last time I saw Mr. L he wasn’t walking and he sure wasn’t talking. Now he’s on the move! Mr. L, thank you so much for being such a good guy. You’ve always been wonderful in front of my camera! To Baby I, even though you’re no longer a newborn….Welcome to the world! You’re a gorgeous little girl with a killer smile. We all know that you’re going to give your older brother a run for his money – and probably Mommy and Daddy too!

B Family and the City!

The B Family and I played down in the city on one of the hottest days (and most humid days) this summer has seen so far! I was so excited to see them again, as it had been a few years since seeing Miss T and Daddy and one year since seeing Mommy and Mr. E. I knew that there had been a new addition to the family since last meeting with them, so obviously my excitement was boiling over to meet Baby A! Thank you to the whole B Family for meeting me in the city and handling the heat. Big thanks go out to Miss T for picking such a gorgeous bouquet of leaves for me, big thanks go out to Mr. E for not getting me too soaked in the water and big thanks go out to Baby A for being such a ham!

Welcome to the World, Baby J!

Welcome to the world, Baby J! Everyone was so excited to meet you and now that you’re here, everyone wants to dote over you 24/7! Who could blame them…Even your pal Murphy wants to be by your side at all times. Big thanks to you for being such a patient and cooperative little girl. The limelight was yours and you enjoyed it! Thanks also go out to Daddy for being such a great assistant, to Mommy for sitting back and relaxing and to Grandma for getting that cute little smile to come out. You’re going to be one of those little ladies who has everyone wrapped around her pinky…
